Verkehrslärm stellt für Schüler vieler Schulen ein echtes Problem dar, insbesondere für solche, die sich in der Nähe von wichtigen Verkehrsinfrastrukturen befinden. Beispielsweise liegt die CEIP Errekabarri HLHI Schule in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spanien) direkt neben einer stark befahrenen Bahnstrecke.
Die Schüler und Lehrkräfte dieser Schule waren durch den rollenden und mechanischen Lärm von Personen- und Güterzügen einem hohen Lärmpegel ausgesetzt. Das baskische Bildungsministerium plante für den Sommer eine Sanierung der Schulhöfe und wollte die Bauarbeiten nutzen, um die Akustik zu verbessern. Ohne eine formale Akustikstudie durchzuführen, entwickelte das Unternehmen SGS, das die akustischen Messungen vornahm, eine Lösung zur Abschirmung der Bahngleise und zur Reduzierung des Lärmpegels auf dem Schulhof.
Als Ergebnis der Vorstudie wurde die Installation einer 180 Meter langen und 2,25 Meter hohen Lärmschutzwand vorgeschlagen. Die Lärmschutzwand wurde aus Acustimódul-80A-Akustikpaneelen errichtet, die horizontal zwischen Stützen mit HEB-Profilen angebracht und mit Ankerplatten an einem Betonringträger befestigt wurden.
Da sich die Lärmquelle außerhalb des Schulgeländes befindet, wurden die Perforationen der Paneele zu dieser Seite hin ausgerichtet, um unerwünschte Reflexionen in die entgegengesetzte Richtung zu vermeiden.
