Comprendre la formation des ondes sonores et le fonctionnement des oscillogrammes

Un oscillogramme est un document produit par un oscillographe ou un oscilloscope. L'oscillogramme est le moyen le plus facile pour créer une représentation graphique du bruit ou d'un son, car il indique l'évolution de la pression acoustique au fil du temps.

L'oscillogramme d'un bruit ou d'un son représente la variation de la pression acoustique en fonction du temps. Normalement, il s'agit de la pression instantanée et non de la pression effective. Dans le cas de bruits parfaitement fixes, la valeur effective de la pression acoustique reste constante avec le temps et par conséquent, le diagramme représentant cette pression n' st pas très utile. En ce qui concerne le bruit non stationnaire, la pression effective, de même que la pression instantanée, varient avec le temps: cela nécessite donc une représentation sous la forme d'un oscillogramme.

Plus techniquement, il est une représentation de la variation de la pression acoustique en fonction du temps.

Grâce à l'oscillogramme, on peut dire que:

  • Une onde sonore = des compressions et des expansions.
  • Un son pur = une forme périodique.
  • Un son apériodique = bruit
