Acoustic enclosure in engine test bench
Test bench

The primary objective of an engine test bench (or dynamometer) is to simulate real-world operating conditions in a controlled environment to measure an engine's performance, efficiency, and reliability.
In simple terms, it allows the engine to be "worked" without moving from its location, enabling engineers to extract precise data that would be impossible to obtain with the vehicle in motion on the road.
These types of tests generate significant noise, which must be controlled using appropriate noise mitigation measures for the type of equipment being tested.

The proposed solution was the installation of an acoustic enclosure based on Acustimódul-80A panels.
After studying the client's operational needs, it was determined that a large door with no floor obstructions was required to allow for the insertion and removal of the motors to be tested. Our solution was based on the installation of a motorized RSHA type sectional acoustic door.

It was also necessary for operators to be able to access the bank's interior without opening the sectional door, which was designed for the passage of motors. Therefore, we installed an RS5C type acoustic personnel access door with a rectangular acoustic viewing window on the right side. This allowed us to monitor the interior of the building from the outside without opening the doors.

Another key point is the ventilation of the test bench interior. It's important to remember that the engines generated exhaust gases during operation, so a suitable ventilation system was essential.
An acoustic labyrinth, designed as a SNA silencer, was installed on the left side of the enclosure. This design allows us to reduce the space occupied by the intake silencer, seamlessly integrating it into the enclosure and providing fresh air from below.
On the right side, a forced-air extraction system using fans was installed. The combination of a soundproof hopper and an SNA acoustic silencer achieved the necessary insulation levels, adjusting the extracted airflow to the ventilation requirements.

The final result of the project was a work area that met the client's needs.

We invite you to visit the facility through the VIRTUAL TOUR we've prepared for you. You'll be able to see in detail everything we've mentioned and get a realistic idea of the results of the treatment we perform.
